You are bidding on a basic service for 8 with many extras. This set was purchased by my aunt in the mid 1930s to the early 1940s. This exquisite set of Sterling silver was made by the Westmoreland company. The pattern is Milburn Rose. The basic set consist of 8 Knives (the handles are silver, the blades are stainless steel), 8 teaspoons, and 8 dinner forks. In addition you will recieve 6 ice tea spoons, and 6 salad forks. Serving pieces include 2 table spoons, 1 relish fork, 1 sugar spoon, and 1 butter knife (butter spreader). Except for the knives, all the other pieces are completely sterling silver. I hope the silver value doesn't matter. However, I weighed the sterling forks, spoons, ect. on US postal scales. They weighed 2 pounds 7 ounces. The knives weighed 1 pound 4 ounces. When I checked today silver was $17.50 per ounce. Figuring half of the weight of the knives is silver and half stainless steel. That would make the total silver weight 33 ounces. Times $17.50 per ounce the tolal silver value would be $577. I hope someone wants them for their beauty and not just for melt down. But t it is. The set is in excellent condition. By the way the chest is included in the auction. Shipping weight is approximately 10 pounds (almost 4 lbs of silver plus the chest, plus carefull packing). Winner will pay mail cost + insurance + tracking (final mail cost depend on destination and final bid). Insurance is not available outside US. Bare that in mind if living outside US. Be sure to check your countries customs laws. T will be no refunds if package is lost/stolen ect. outside US. Any questions, please email me before bidding.
