Came from an very well-appointed family estate auction held in the Midwest. This set is early issue Wallace when "Romance of the Sea" was introduced in 1950. It is in dire need of a soft polish and cleaning which I have not done and am selling this set exactly as purchased at auction with the old patina. This sterling pattern is truly a work of art. Stunning. Neo-Classic. Seashell decorated tip with generous silver scrolls and beading along the terminal. The back of each piece is just as ornate as front. More scrolling and swirls of silver. Elegant. Each piece is large in size and very substantial in weight. Strong. Hefty to hold in your hand. SOLID. The enlarged serving spoons are superb. Fabulously large. Great pieces. Makes me want to make a huge bowl of steamed vegetables and whipped potatoes. T are some surface scratches which will polish beautifully. This is just a remarkable silver pattern. Has got to be one of Wallace's finest. Quality is outstanding and would be a most exciting set of flatware. Superior sterling.
