Current value = $15.45. El Diablo 1-4 . March through June 2001, cover price $2.50 each. Written by Brian Azzarello, illustrated by Danijel Zezelj, outstanding old-West covers by Tim Sale! 1 is VF for a 1/4 th -inch corner crease on the back cover, 2 is NM- , 3 is NM, and 4 is VF for a 1/4 th -inch bend on the upper binding-side corner. Current value = $8.80. Enigma 1-8 . 1993, cover price $2.50 each. I am pretty sure that this is the second miniseries published under the Vertigo line of DC Comics. ( Death: the High Cost of Living also began in March 1993.) This strange and excellent series was written by Peter Milligan and illustrated by Duncan Fegredo. Supervillains and the superhero Enigma suddenly begin to appear in the real world. They are the living embodiment of characters from an obscure comic book title which the central character of the story read in his childhood. You'll love seeing how Envelope Girl sends people packing, and how the grotesque Head enjoys feeding on the flavorful memories of others by inserting a long tube up their noses and sucking out their brains. The regular-guy central character tries to understand why people are being murdered by bizarre comic book characters that very few people have ever heard of. He wonders if he is central to these developments, and in seeking answers, discovers that he is not really heterosexual after all! The Vertigo imprint was born in order to let DC explore adult themes, and they certainly did so with this excellent miniseries. This is classic horror with a modern twist!
