You are bidding on a 1 48 scale Nichimo model of the famous WW-2 Nakajima B5n "Kate." It is only based on the kit and has customized parts and is painted accordingly. NOTE: This aircraft type was the best torpedo bomber in the World until mid 1942. It led the attack at Pearl Harbor and was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force in every theater. It was introduced in 1937 and served throughout the war. This particular aircraft is a late model conversion B5n2 with surface radar. It is armed with a 500kg bomb painted for penetrating armored capitol ships. The aircraft was part of the 7th Air Fleet 934 squadron that participated in the battles for Saipan on June 14, 1944. At this point, the IJNAF was out gunned and had few experienced pilots left. Whereas the US Navy flying Hellcats and USMC F4U's simply overwhelmed and out fought what was left of a once dominant air force. What few aircraft of this type that were left were eventually used as kamikazes.ABOUT THE AIRCRAFT: The aircraft model has been modified and detailed using photo etched bits, sheet brass and lead castings. The model has brass parts and resin, guitar string rigging for controls. Night lamps are real glass. Interior is partial scratch. The bomb racks and engine are modified with Eduard and Quick boost.
