This lovely tea set by Wilcox Silverplate Co. of Meriden, Conn., is well over a hundred years old and has the patina to prove it. None of the pieces have any dents, bumps, or scratches. The cover hinge on the teapot is strong; the lid to the sugar bowl fits tight. Each piece is incised on both sides with a classical floral design. One side has the letter = M. The other = MEH. The set # is 5070 stamped on each piece and the letters GILT with the exception of the tray. The teapot stands 9" tall with pot 5" in diameter. It holds about a quart. The sugarbowl is 5 1/2" high and 5" in diameter. The creamer and spooner are also 5 1/2" high. The creamer holds about a cup and a half. Each piece has lovely decorative detail, a testament to the quality of the maker. Wilcox was one of the companies to form the International Silver Co. in 1898. This lovely quadruple plate tea set was produced by the Wilcox Silverplate Co. of Meriden, Conn. The five pieces include the teapot, sugar bowl, creamer, spooner, and round tray. All the pieces have floral designs incised on each side. T are also initials - M - on one side and -MEH - on the other. T are no dents, bumps, or scratches in this set which is well over a hundred years old. The patina of a hundred years can be polished off if buyer prefers bright, shiny silver. The set number is #5070 with GILT stamped beneath the number on each piece with the exception of the tray.
