This auction is for one lot of five (5) RARE MT & CO. PERSIAN ROSE PATTERNED POTTERY CUPS! These are fantastic pieces of early English pottery, made from the renowned, but short-lived company, Marple, Turner, 7 Company, in Staffordshire, England. Recently acquired from Maine estate sale, owned by her family for (5) generations! [Note: Will have additional pieces from this collection/set in my other auctions -- check them out!] I was given a paper with the history of ownership of these dishes and will enclose copy for winning bidder! A great example of mid-1800s craftsmanship and artistry, they are in remarkable condition, considering t age and use ! These are wonderful and unique cups, with no handles, octagonal in shape, with a small raised base (faux pedestal.) One is showing its 150+ year old age more than the others, with heavy crazing to the glaze, age/use discoloration, and t is a crack on the edge extending from a small chip. The other (4) pieces are in great condition. All-in-all, wonderful additions for the collection or display -- beautiful and valuable! The colors are wonderfully hand painted -- and absolutely gorgeous -- in vibrant mauves, blues, and greens. Transferware itself is in the early mulberry color. Edges are imperfect when made, irregularities from the early pottery-making and transfer processes are evident on every dish -- making each of them a truly one-of-a-kind piece! Base is unmarked, without the maker's mark: A fancy enclosed and interlocking series of curly-cues, in center: PERSIAN/ ROSE and below: MT & CO. in the mulberry color, as well. Instead, a few have the green or blue hash mark of the artist on base. Difficult to acquire pieces of tangible history! Marple, Turner, & Co. manufactured these pieces, from 1851 - 1853. Highly coveted pattern, many can't be found on-line or in your local antique shops because they are in private or museum collections. Don't let this opportunity pass you by! Treasures measure approximately 3 1/8" h.; 3 1/2" mouth diam.; 1 3/4" base diam. Condition, completeness, and history of these lovely pottery treasures combine to make this lot one of those "gotta-get-me's" for the collectors of early porcelain/pottery, antique cups, MT&Co. items, transferware, or just great historic pieces in general. Low starting price and no reserve make this a must-have acquisition! Please see pictures for details. Photos are with flash and without, so t may appear to be some color discrepancies that don't really exist. If t are any questions about pictures or information, requests must be made prior to auction's end. All items sold "as is/as described" and guaranteed to be original. You have a 7 day return if not as described. S&h varies due to zip code. Am more than willing to combine auctions to save the winning bidder S&H costs. Not responsible for damage if no insurance taken. It is the responsibility of the buyer to request insurance at time of invoicing. We can not be responsible for items once they leave us. Maine residents add 5 % sales tax if not re-sale number. To be fair, payment must be received within 10 days of invoicing.
