Greetings from Goodrich, Michigan! 50 piece 1958 Homer Laughlin "Romance" Eggshell Cavalier full China Dinnerware Set On the block today is a rare, elegant and exquisite find! We have a full 50 piece, six place setting, set of Eggshell Cavalier China in the "Romance" pattern all produced by Homer Laughlin. This pattern was manufactured during 1958 and 1959. All pieces in this auction are in excellent condition. Most of which have no chips, scratches, flea bites.... A few of the pieces have minor flaws, very consistent with age. I am noting this for integrity purposes. I will try to give an accurate description below. This pattern has a stunning nostalgic elegance to it. A 1959 Homer Laughlin Advertisment described the pattern as follows: "Romance. Full Turquoise rim band is important background for border of dainty and delicate pastel leaves and Pink buds. Every piece is edged in Platinum." Although the ad describes the border color as turquoise, I would have to say that "pastel turquoise" describes it more accurately. Please take a close look at the Plate Place Setting Photo. My favorite thing about this set is the squared salad plate. A very unique and subtle accent to any china dinnerware setting. Following is a breakdown of all pieces included in this auction: 7 - Dinner Plates - All seven plates are in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or flea bites. T is some very minor scratching to the center of the plates from usage yet all still have great brilliance and shine. All plates are stamped in 22 K gold on the back with the traditional "Cavalier-eggshell-by Homer Laughlin-USA-K58".These pieces measure approximately 10" in diameter. The replacement cost for this piece is $10+ EACH! 6 - Squared Salad Plates - These are my favorite piece in this auction. This pattern offered both round or square salad plates. The square plate definitely makes this set a cut above most others. All pieces are in excellent condition with great brilliance and shine. Only one of the plates has a minor flea bite on the side of the edge. This piece measures approximately 7-3/4" across. The replacement cost for this piece is $10+ EACH! 6 - Bread and Butter Plates - All six pieces are in excellent condition and hold their brilliance and shine. Only one of the bread and butter plates has a minor flea bite on the side of the edge. This piece measures approximately 6-1/8" in diameter.The replacement cost for this piece is $5+ EACH! 6 - Tea Cups - Five of the six pieces are in excellent condition and hold their brilliance and shine. Only one of the tea cups has a chip in the outer side of the rim. This piece measures approximately 2-3/4" in height and 3-5/8" in diameter. The replacement cost for this piece is $8+ EACH! 6 - Saucers - All six pieces are in excellent condition and are free of all chips, cracks & flea bites. All still hold their brilliance and shine. This piece measures approximately 6" in diameter. The replacement cost for this piece is $4+ EACH! 6 - Coupe Cereal Bowls - All pieces are in excellent condition and are free of all chips, cracks & flea bites. All still hold their brilliance and shine. Three of the six bowls are stamped in green on the bottom with the traditional "Cavalier-eggshell-by Homer Laughlin-USA-E57N5". This piece measures approximately 1-1/2" in height and 6" in diameter. The replacement cost for this piece is $11+ EACH! 4 - Salt/Pepper Shakers (2 sets) - All pieces are in excellent condition and are free of all chips, cracks & flea bites. All still hold their brilliance and shine and include their original cork stoppers. This piece measures approximately 3" in height. The replacement cost for this piece is $20+ EACH! 1 - Creamer - This piece is in great condition and still holds it's brilliance and shine. It does have two chips at the base of the foot.
