Gorgeous 50s cocktail dress by Dorothy O'Hara, a designer well known for her feminine and sexy black crepe dresses with body forming draping. If you love Ceil Chapman's designs, but they're not it your budget, then this dress is a wonderful alternative. Bodice is lined in black taffeta and has a wide scoop neckline and deep V back. There are short, almost cap sleeves and O'Haras signature draping can be seen across the bodice under the bustline and in the sarong style of the curve hugging skirt. The draping at the top has been designed to give the dress the appearance of a two piece outfit. There is a back metal zipper for closure. Labels read "Dorothy O'Hara, California"Marshall Fields&Co." Measurements-bust 34", waist 26", hips 34", shoulder to waist 16", waist to hem 22". Though this is beautifully constructed, it does have a couple of issues. It appears to have been shortened a bit and right at the hemline there was a 1/2" tear that has been repaired, and it is noticeable if looking closely. Shows up well in picture since I lightened it, but it actually blends in quite well. The rest of this dress is in fantastic condition. Fabric is still a deep dark black.
