T are approximately 518 color 35mm slides of travels throughout the western United States and Canada, including places such as San Diego, Arizona, Utah, San Francisco, San Jose, New Mexico, Colorado, British Columbia, Idaho, Washington, etc. They were taken by my wife's grandfather who was an avid photographer when he traveled with family and friends from approximately 1948-1972 The slides are housed in a gray metal box 14.5" x 7.5" x 2.25" brand name "Tower". The hinge on the left side is broken and needs to be replaced, however, the box still opens. Inside the box are 30 different slots, however some of the slots are void of slides. T is an index that describes in general the subject matters and dates for each of the slots. Nearly all of the slides are Kodachrome and they maintained their color, however, though very few (maybe 10 or less) are non-Kodachrome such as Ansco color and they have turned reddish. Many of the slides are not labelled or the handwriting is difficult to read, but the index that corresponds to the slots provide a good description. Additionally, some of the slides appear to be out of place, but I've carefully placed them back how I found them. It is possible that grandpa was in the process of sorting some of these slots and never finished. Most of the slides are rather ordinary such as gathering of friends, parties, scenery, etc. However, they are interesting due to the period clothing, cars depicted, and certainly the progression since the slides were taken. I have reviewed all the slides and will try to describe some of the highlights.
