This geometric design is called "KOYOSEGI" and uses a marquetry technique that has been handcrafted by the artisans in the Odawara region of Japan for the last 100 years displaying the fine Japanese craftsmanship and ingenuity using many different colored woods to adorn the outside of these special works of art. This awesome box takes 54 sequential moves to open the main compartment and another move that opens the "secret" lid compartment that contains a 5 Yen coin and a space that can also be used as an additional hiding place for cash, valuables or documents. This unique Japanese "trick" box has 4 sliding panels and 8 sliding keys and measures 7.44"x5.32"x3.88" overall, with a main compartment measuring 5.25"x4.38"x2.75", and a hidden compartment that is 5.25"x3.5"x0.27". This Puzzle Box is truly a work of art and will make a unique Christmas gift for that someone special or be the prize of any puzzle box collection! This box is signature stamped by the craftsman{Yamanaka-san}, and is in "mint" condition in the original cellophane wraping. Opening instructions are also included.
