The pattern was created in 1734 by the Artist Kandler. It is a interpretation of the Schwiebel or Onion pattern originally from the German Meissen Porcelain Company. It was inspired by a similar Chinese pattern during the Yuan Dynasty. It is the world's most favorite pattern and depicts the flowers of good fortune and happiness and used by nobility for centuries. Details: Blue Danube "Onion" Pattern Trademark used in production from 1977 to 1996 Includes: Small Plate (6 3/4") 2 Lids (2 3/4") Small Bowl (4 3/4") 2 Leaf Bowls w/ handle (5 1/2") Blue Danube is fired to 2400F and are underglazed translucent porcelain products. This makes the Blue Danube china very chip resistant, dishwasher safe and microwave safe. Condition: These items are all in very good condition. They are used but have been well cared for. These items are all free from chips or cracks. Some of the pieces need to be cleaned. They have been stored for many years and some of them have a good layer of dust.
