Rainbow Obsidian Sphere Size 2.64" 67mm Weight: 13.45 oz 381 grams Location: Mexico 2.6" Rainbow Obsidian sphere. This sphere is carved from Obsidian from Mexico, a distinctive type of natural volcanic glass. Seen with an electron microscope, the layers of color in this material have been found to be rods of pyroxene. Light waves are scattered or absorbed according to the relative size of the rods in each layer, producing the color of that particular layer. There is are rainbow eyes on opposite sides of the sphere that show purple colors in ringed patterns under bright light. Sphere weighs over 3/4 lb.
