For your consideration is a fine lot of six large 7 x 9 to 8 x 10 inch Us Signal Corps and "Official British" photographs of Allied fighting & fighting units in France. T are many photos of Sherman tanks, a couple great photos of British armour with the gliders used to transport British troops on D-Day in a field in the background, of captured German 88s, etc. Each photo has a full decription on either the front of the back (see photos below for further details). These are original 1940s photos snapped, developed and disseminated to news organisations during the war, not later reproductions. They were formerly in thecollection of long-defunct Washington D.C. newspaper, the WashingtonEvening Star. The gentleman I bought these from worked at the newspaper and saved them from the trash when the paper decided to clean house some years after the war. According to him, the newspaper, as well as other local news organisations, received a much wider variety of press/propaganda photos than their counterparts around the country due to their close proximity to the Department of War/War Information in Washington D.C... hence, these and other photographs from this spectacular collection I will list in coming weeks may be quite rare.Condition is excellent.
