6 Mies Van der Rohe Gordon International c. 1930 Reproduction Chairs With Label Mies Van der Rohe; Designer Available for Local Pick Up in Queens New York Are (Commercial Loading Dock is available) Description: These are six chairs that are created by Gordon International in Long Island City, New York. They were created to be exact reproductions of the 1930's design. They are called Barstock Arm Chairs from the Brno Series. According to the Gordon International web site they are triple chrome plated stainless steel framed. The dimensions are: W 23", D 22", H 32", StH 18", ArH 26". These six chairs were purchsed in the 1980's and used by my father for his office. We then used them in our house. They were not used often by us but as office chairs they probably had daily use for a couple of years. The seats need a good cleaning from dirt and the chrome has areas of tarnish. One arm has chipping of the chrome that is about 3" long (see close up photo). I dont see any real cuts in the leather except for the cuts in the arm that I have a close up photo of, the damage in the back of the chair (see photo) and the one chair with the ruler that has that tear in the surface of the leather and scratches in the chair. These chairs have a good amount of wear and tarnish on the chrome and need a good cleaning but they are all structurally sound and very strong. Condition: I am not a furniture expert or knowledgeable about furniture in any way. T is obvious wear that can be seen in the photos. I have tried to describe the basic condition and provide close ups so that you can see the damage and make your own decision. This does not mean that t are no other scuff marks or cracking in the leather or other areas of small damage. The photos and my description are the major areas of damage that I saw in my inspection and I am trying to let the photos speak for themselves. These chairs have a good amount of wear and tarnish on the chrome and need a good cleaning but they are all structurally sound and very strong. It seems that the tarnish was created by food left to dry on the chrome. When the food is cleaned off you see this kind of surface tarnish. Some of the surface tarnish goes deeper into the chrome in some spots, these are the spots I tried to take photos of. I cleaned most of it off but many chairs bases still need to be scrubbed. The photos were all taken with a flash since I had to take the photos from the storage house. This might be the reason for some variation of color and reflection in the scuff marks. Considering how little I know about this I am willing to take phone calls and work with potential buyers. Please understand that the furniture is in storage and difficult to get to so I can't easily inspect it. The surface of the furniture was covered with several layers of heavy shipping paper which I took off for photographing and then replaced. I will speak to the shipping company and ask them to take care and I have tried to find shipping companies that have experience in shipping delicate furniture.
