Offered for auction is a 60º-120º crossover in gray for American Flyer S gauge trains. This is not an original American Flyer crossover, nor is it a reproduction of any known Gilbert accessory. This is trademarked TM Aff. This 60º-120º crossover is intended to look like what Gilbert would have made if it had ever done so. It is made using gray resin to match the gray roadbed (picture 2) and otherwise is identical to the black ones (some of the pictures show the black ones). I made it with raised ties and track guides just like the original crossover. The center “frog” is basically the same design as the original but instead of 90º it is angled at 60º and 120º. There are two significant differences from the original. The track is held by crimped copper wire rather than the flat steel hold-downs and I did not drill holes for screwing or nailing to the table. You can see in the picture of the bottom I soldered wires between the copper wire hold-downs. This is not a precision injection molded production item. The prototype was made with basically hand tools. Then I made a silicon rubber mold from the prototype and I am now casting parts from that mold. While it is well made, it is not perfect. You can see sanding marks, glue spots, small bubbles and the plastic joints (picture 3). It has a longer dead spot than the regular 90º. I read more
