1960s era DESIMONE Italian handpainted jug or vase, I'm not sure which, stands 8 1/2" tall, and it's 6 1/2" in diameter at the fattest part just above the base. It's made from a brick red colored earthenware material and it has all of it's detail molded in. I'm not real familiar with this ware, ao any questions, please just ask and I'll do my best to get you whatever information you may require. The base is just perfectly flat, from t the sides cup out just a bit before coming back in again to form a thinnish neck. They then flare back out again to a wide rim that's smooth and even. On either side of the neck is a flat loop handle about 3/4" wide. The whole piece except for the underside then has a thin whitewash like base coat. On top of that on one side is either a chicken or some type of bird that looks to be resting on a green leaf. It's body is orange, it's wings a pale green, the tail is cobalt blue, the neck and head are yellow, and then the eyes and beak are brown. On the other side of the piece are the torso and head of a man with his arms raised like he's signaling 'touchdown'. He has a reddish shirt with a blue collar and a bright purple hat. He has pink cheeks and his hair and facial features are done in brown. In his right hand he's holding a thin necked jug of some type with a yellow body. The wide handles are orange read more
