Welcome and, Thank You for viewing my item: Huge lot of 61 piece Royal Vitreous English China COALPORT John Maddock and Sons 14 carat gold trimmed China Maddock and Sons was a small company with many inventive craftsmen. They were key in developing Vitreous China during the 1800's. Everyone is familiar with bone, ironstone, ceramic and porcelain china . The development of various clays and their uses has been perfected through china, and Maddock was a cutting edge company. They were acquired by Coalport in order to improve and strengthen their lines. Maddock craftsmen went on to Royal Worcester and many of the great English firms to help make sets of china more affordable to non-royals in England. John Maddock and Sons methods came to the Fine China center of the early U.S. which was Trenton, N.J. Companies like Lennox, Cybis, and Bohem owe their success to Maddock.
