1967 Corvette® Sting Ray™ L88™ - Connoisseur’s Series - Limited Edition Description The ultimate Corvette® experience in impressive 1:12 scale. This world-class replica features a fiberglass body, a real leather interior, working lights, simulated operating sounds, and a wide range of state-of-the-art operating features and details. Comes with a custom-designed polished wood display base (stock photo of different color car included to show the wood base). Features: Windows: The side windows work just like those on the real automobile. Rear Hatch: The rear hatch, located just behind the seats, opens to about a 60º angle. Gas Cap and Gas Cap Lid: The gas cap is located in the rear-center behind the hatch, under the lid with the Corvette® logo. The lid can be raised and lowered. Hood: As on the real automobile, the hood raises from the center to the front, providing access to the engine. Engine Compartment: Under the hood, t is a detailed model of the L88™ engine Steering: 1967 Corvette® Sting Ray™ L88™ - Connoisseur’s Series Limited Edition model features an articulated steering system which requires about 1/4 turn to achieve the maximum turning angle. Roof: A separate hard-top roof that can be set in place on the vehicle. Wheels: The wheels are designed to roll and can also be removed. Suspension: functioning suspension. Drive Shaft: To see the drive shaft rotate, carefully invert the model and spin the rear tires. Driver's Compartment: In addition to working lights and horn and engine sounds, the steering wheel turns, windows crank up and down, leather-covered seatbacks fold down, the parking brake moves, the ashtray lid slides open and closes, the gear shift lever adjusts, sun visors swing up and down, the glove box opens and accelerator, brake and clutch pedals depress. The brake pedal (center pedal) activates the brake lights when depressed with the power switch turned on. Doors: The doors open to about a 60º angle. Ignition & Motor Sounds: To hear the engine sounds, turn on the power switch. Horn: The horn works. Lights: The headlights, taillights and instrument panel lights work. In mint condition in the box. The very thought of owning one transforms their thoughts into those of a kid dreaming of Christmas morning. A friend of mine actually bought one in 1967 (he wanted a ’68 L88 but couldn’t meet the dealer’s price and “settled” (!) for an end-of-year ’67 for $500 less). He still has the car, which is completely original and in great shape, and he still takes it out for a spin from time to time (oh, the humanity!). The thing that slays me is that he has no excitement about owning a legendary L88! Huh? I recently saw a blurb in Hemmings Muscle Machines that showed a ’67 L88 (in Rally Red) that went for auction at Mecum’s Bloomington Gold for the incredible price of $615, 000! Needless to say, I won’t be seeing check stubs of that denomination in my account – EVER. But it goes to show what a rare gem such a car is. So, why isn’t my friend more excited? Search me. Is the 1:12 scale Connoisseur’s Series version of this glamour ‘Vette worth $495? Well, first and foremost, it’s really BIG, so all the fine details (buttons, locks, switches, etc.) show up wonderfully in the larger scale. The “fit and finish” is also up to par, with an appropriately glossy paint job (in Rally Red) on the real fiberglass body and removable hardtop. The seats, with tilting backs, are done in genuine black leather.
