This is a serial numbered 1938 700E 5344 Scale Hudson. The 1938 Models are very rare. Lionel realized they had a problem with the 1937 castings. The 38's were made to replace the failing castings that were showing up on the 37 models. Lionel realized the metal had to be purified and the lubrication method had to be changed so you didn't have to take the engine apart just to lubricate. Both engine and tender have been professionally cleaned and lubricated. Engine runs smoothly in forward and reverse. Nice metal prewar whistle functions flawlessly. All Prewar engines had lead content in the paint. We had the paint tested for read more
