Cripple Creek Auctions, Inc. 70's NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN SIOUX PAINTING RICH RED OWL ORIGINAL ART BY RICH RED OWL OGLALA LAKOTA PINE RIDGE I am a Trading Assistant - I can sell items for you! This is an ORIGINAL PAINTING by a NATIVE AMERICAN SIOUX OGLALA LAKOTA INDIAN ARTIST by the name of RICH RED OWL This particular ORIGINAL PAINTING was drawn in Mid 1970's This original painting is signed by RICH RED OWL This original painting was obtained by a couple from Denver, Colorado who were longtime collectors of Indian Art. This Original Painting was obtained at the Red Cloud Art Show that was held in 1975. Thus, the painting was painted prior to the date of this art show in 1975. Rich Red Owl was at this show and the couple visited with the artist. On the back of this painting an original Red Cloud Entry Form is still taped onto the back. This is what the Form Says SEVENTH ANNUAL RED CLOUD INDIAN ART SHOW JUNE 8 - AUGUST 10, 1975 RED CLOUD INDIAN SCHOOL PINE RIDGE, SOUTH DAKOTA (It lists the different divisions) Awards given at this Art Show See other side for Details and Entry Form On the reverse side it has the autograph of RICH RED OWL as he had to sign this entry form and give this painting to the Red Cloud Art Show so it could be sold to help support the Red Cloud Indian School Some artist received Awards, but Indian Artists donated their pieces of art for the cause of the Indian School at Pine Ridge, South Dakota and some great early Indian Art was sold at this Red Cloud Indian Art Show This is a great looking original painting that was done on a 22" by 28" CANVAS PANEL Then at the bottom right the artist signed his name Rich Red Owl inside a Tee Pee This painting has been surrounded by a Wooden Frame but the frame is loose and can be used or it can be framed into something else. We will send the wooden frame but the frame is nothing special. The frame and piece of art has no glass on the front and it has never been behind glass. T is no dust cover on the back of the frame. T are a few nicks in the frame. The piece of art has a few specks on the outside part of the Canvas Panel and some very minor dust stains on the Canvas Panel. Nothing major but t are some minor specs that we wanted to mention. The middle part of the painted area remains in good shape. But, it must be noted that this original painting was stored for many years before the Denver Couple decided to sell their Indian Collection. And, the reason it collected a bit of dust. We believe all of the dust can be easily cleaned, but for fear of causing more stains, we will let the new owner clean off the surface dust which is minor. But otherwise it has been well preserved and protected over the years - since the mid 1970's. Richard Red Owl Oglala Lakota "My idea of racial harmony is expressed with an easel and a smile." Rich Red Owl was born on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Red Owl's artistic expressions are self-taught. He prefers discovering for himself without formal instruction. Red Owl has studied and been inspired by Oscar Howe, Hobart Keith, and Charles Russell. Over the years, he has experimented with cubism, realism, and abstract compositions. He prefers to work in acrylics on canvas, because he feels that the bright and warm colors help bring out the gentle and colorful traits of the Lakota Sioux people. Red Owl has shown his work in several states. He participates annually in the Red Cloud Art Show in Pine Ridge.
