A "plumasabe" (IPMS# 6933) Auction! Well Built AModel 1/72nd IAR-80 Fighter! This is a very well constructed 1/72nd scale Romanian-built IAR-80 WWII fighter, built from the limited run AModel kit form Poland. Coded White "42", it was the mount of Romanian ace Ion Milu. I masked and painted the national colors on the rudder and painted the Eastern Front yellow ID fuselage and cowl bands. This This model deserves to be housed with the most discriminating of collectors. It is a "smallish" model, measuring about 5 inches in length, with about an 6-inch wingspan. This is indeed a nicely built model. Seams were puttied and sanded. High opening bid is due to the fact that this is a limited run molding, complex to build and expensive to begin with.I airbrushed the plane, using Testor Model Master and Guze Sanyo acrylics. It is camouflaged in the Dark Earth, Dark Green upper and side colors, with Light Blue undersurfaces. The spinner is black. The very nice kit decals were used and went down well. It was overcoated with Guze Flat Clear. The kit canopy was polished and dipped in Future Floor Wax and then masked and carefully painted. No weathering was added to this beautiful plane. This would make a nice addition to a collector's group of Eastern Front aircraft, especially of one that produced domesticly by the Romanian aircraft industry. read more
