This is an Original Noel Rockmore from 1971 Titled: Sleeping Girl and Dog It is a 14 X 11 Watercolor, Pen & ACRYLIC Mixed Media on paper and NOT framed but nicely matted. It is from the Shirley Marvin Collection and it is from her SketchBook #23 - Titled: 1971 1st Book in Scrapbook series It is the 2nd page of the Sketchbook and is titled, signed and dated July 71 Scrapbook Series 2 by Rockmore. The catalog Number within the Shirley Marvin Collection given to this work is 71.7.721 This work was purchased directly from The Artist, Noel Rockmore, by Shirley Marvin and comes with a letter of authenticity. What is the Scrapbook series that Rockmore created? The Scrapbook series (also known as the StoryBook series) was created by Rockmore in the early 70s before he was commissioned by George Wein to go to Paris. Several sketchbooks and oils were created and Rockmore intended to complete more but lost interest upon his return from Paris and the breakup of his relationship with Riva. Rockmore was certainly influenced in the creation of cartoons by his father, Floyd Davis, who was called the #1 Illustrator in America by Life Magazine in 1943. Floyd Davis was known for his playful caricatures and cartoons in both magazine stories and advertisements.
