This is hand made old singing bowl. The bowl measures approximately 9.75 inch diameter, sound C# note and weight 1.32 kg. It comes with the pillow and strikers. This bowl has an amazing resonating sound, it totally fills the room. A singing bowl is simply a type of bell that is shaped like a bowl. They are sometimes called 'standing bells' because they sit on a surface, rather then being suspended like a hand bell or church bell. Singing bowls have been made for centuries, since the time of the Buddha Sakyamuni (560 - 489 BCE.). They were brought to Tibet from India with the teachings of Buddha, and yet they are not mentioned in the Buddhist cannon. T function is thus something of a mystery, but it is thought that they were used in Tibet for meditation and ceremonial purposes. Today they are used for the same reasons, as well as holistic healing, relaxation, stress reduction, reiki, balancing of the body's chakras, or simply as a wonderful piece of art. Singing bowls are traditionally constructed of seven metals: gold, silver, mercury, copper, iron, tin and lead, which correspond to the seven planets known at the time - sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, respectively.
