This auction is for a vintage Lionel Hudson 763 Steam engine paired with a 2263 tender and is a restoration project for a lover of historical model railroads. This is not the reproduced 1990s version but the original pre-war steam engine , Lionel's largest and most deluxe O-72 loco of the late 1930s and early 1940s. It has suffered from age: a piece of the cab's overhang was broken off and the cowcatcher was damaged when I bought it (I have replaced the cowcatcher with one that looks like the original. I will include the original damaged cowcatcher base in case you would like the original parts). T he present cowcatcher sometimes touches the the middle rail but when train is balanced by adding a little weight to the back, it runs nicely. I bought it as a collector piece but it's time to let it go. There is no chain and peg hook-up on the back of the engine for the tender. There is a crack above the headlight about 3/4 inch long and the engine itself h as some scratches, nicks and paint loss due to its age . The pilot wheel piece will not stay attached to the bottom of the engine. The Tender does not include a whistle and also has a few cracks on the front and there is rust, paint loss, nicks and scratches . You are buying as is . The set does run in forward and reverse, looks very impressive and could make an excellent restoration
