This auction is for one wholesale lot of mostly vintage or antique Sterling Silver jewelry, assorted men's, women's and unisex jewelry. Lot weight, including stones, clasps, etc is 780 grams (25 ounces Troy), but many pieces have stones and other ornamentation that may be worth more or less than silver. Many of these pieces would retail for far more than silver content due to their workmanship, attractiveness and vintage. Some pieces are clearly not worth much more than silver content, but can still be scrapped to recover cost. In a few pieces, the catches, loops or clasps are magnetic, or not silver, but the actual piece is a non magnetic silver alloy. Some of the really old pieces test for silver, but they are extremely flexible compared to similar pieces that are sterling, suggesting they are .999 silver, or thereabouts. Majority of pieces are marked either "Sterling" or "925". Pieces that are not marked are generally antique pieces, and test for silver, polish up like silver, have silver weight feel and are non-magnetic. Buffing them with a silver cloth leaves the characteristic silver Oxide black residue. Amost all pieces are in wearable condition, and only require silver polishing to restore the brilliance of silver. A few pieces require minor repair, or require a missing stone, or can be scrapped. Almost all earrings are matched pairs. Some pieces are monogrammed, some are award type pins, which may be collectible. If you sell jewelry retail, this is a collection sure to provide excellent stock. What you feel you can't sell can always be consigned to the smelter, where you will get 90% of silver content value. Total weight of this collection is in excess of 780 grams. (I have allowed for a few pieces with semiprecious stones). If you are not a dealer, but an investor, here is a lot of silver, almost all in marketable product form that will be a source of unique gifts to family for years.Collection includes rings, pins, cufflinks, studs, tieclips, tiepins, chains, bracelets, pendants, charms and souvenir type items. Most of these items are vintage or antique pieces. Many are in excellent and wearable condition, obviously quality workmanship and design. Only one really beautifully made pin or hair clip requires a new clasp. My opening bid of $750 is considerably below the silver content, as I cannot guarantee that every pieces is .925 sterling, but because most pieces are marked and tested for sterling, I guarantee it is well below opening bid melt value. For additional pictures of selected items, please write and furnish your email address. I will be happy to comply. Note:In a separate bag, I am including 3 more pieces that were not included in the photos and were not included in the lot weight: A 1 ounce sterling (925 mark) keyholder and link chain with amber pendant; a sterling monogrammed tie clip, and an amber pendant, with a silver loop, just in case some of the unmarked pieces turn out to be 900 or 800 silver, and not 925. These alloys were commonly used in older jewelry, as they wear better than .925 silver content alloys.
