780 PNC Commercial Covers - Bread Wagon & Yosemite I collected most of these covers myself, the balance having been saved for me by myriad friends who were aware of my strange interest in this backwater area of stamp collecting. All are legitimate commercial covers, with NO philatelic creations among them.
Using a simple convention, I’ll list the relative quantities of each plate number of each issue. Bread Wagon: 5 #1; 47 #2; 52 #3; 50 #4 and 2 #5. There are also the following additional oddball covers from this same issue: One example of plate #2 has a blob attached to the left edge of the number (may be a collectible, recurring error, or just a lone curiosity); one cover with plate #3 is also franked with a strip-of-4 1-cent Omnibus (no number) to make the 29-cent rate... this strip is mis-perforated 20-25%; and last... 2 covers of plate #4 have the number partially chopped-off at the bottom. Yosemite: 1 #1; 80 #2; 25 #3; 30 #4; 32 #5; 6 #6; 57 #7; 56 #8; 88 #9; 50 #10; 50 #11; 49 #13; 50 #14 and 50 #15. The condition of the covers is Very Good to X-Fine. I rarely leave a cover where the numeral is not easily read with the naked eye, but you will undoubtedly find a few covers which have a light or partial over-strike of the cancel. Expect some covers to have been roughly opened, but since the great majority of these covers were derived from large concerns receiving a huge influx of bill payments every day, most of the covers have been deftly opened by an automatic slicer. I try to cull any covers with stamps which have been cut by the slicer. Thus I’m confident you’ll have over 90% high quality covers. Shipping weight is 9 pounds. I’ll try and get this to go Media Mail ($5.50) , but it may be returned for more postage, since mailing “used” envelopes seems to be one of those gray areas. If I have to send it Parcel Post, the postage will range somewhere between $8.87 and $15.90, depending upon what ZONE you live in with respect to its distance from Oregon. NOTE: By bidding on this item, you are accepting responsibility for the additional postage in the event of the package’s return. I welcome questions and/or comments.
