Offered for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is this beautiful, guaranteed authentic and original, experimental glaze vase by The Dedham Pottery Company, circa 1904. This vase has a very pleasing form, with a tapering long neck and graceful, sloping shoulders. The high-gloss green glaze with tan dots is exceptionally bright, and shows a large spot of iridescence on one side under the green glaze. If you collect american art pottery, then this Hugh Robertson experimental glaze Dedham vase is a must for your collection. This fully signed Dedham Pottery baluster form vase measures 8 & 1/8" tall and appx. 3.75" wide through the shoulder area. The top opening measures just under 2.25" in diameter while the dry, footed base measures 2.75" in diameter. This is a very heavy piece of pottery for its shape and size, and coupled with a very heavy glaze application, the weight is significant. You can see w the excess green glaze was ground off all along the bottom edge. Just check out how much had to be ground off to "round off" the base edge. As noted, this beautiful Dedham Pottery vase is in Excellent Original Condition , with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs and/or retouches at all. The only thing of mention is a small grinding chip on the very bottom edge. I'm amazed that t is only one given the amount of grinding the had to accomplish at the factory on this particular vase, but it is quite small and quite inconspicuous. Clear crazing is evident, but that would be expected given the thickness of this glossy glaze and so I mention it for complete accuracy. This Dedham vase is hand-incised "Dedham Pottery" on the base, along with an ink number "DP99A", a pencil mark of "440" that is circled along with a large IV, which I believe could be a designation for the year 1904. T are also numerous other strange marks and letters all about the bottom surface which could also have some significance regarding the glaze applications. In any event, it is a very crowded bottom, but the Dedham Pottery incised mark is clearly t to see. I accept money orders, personal checks and PayPal, but will wait for checks and PayPal to fully clear my bank (usually 2-4 business days, especially for PayPal) before packing and shipping out any merchandise. The winning bidder will be responsible for shipping and full insurance through the USPS's Priority Mail Service with Delivery Confirmation added. Lastly, this beautiful example of Dedham Experimental-Glaze Pottery will be carefully wrapped and packaged for maximum protection. Please do email me with any questions prior to bidding and good luck on this NO RESERVE american art pottery gem!!!
