8 Gorham Sterling Buttercup Cocktail / Seafood Forks

This is a matching set of 8 cocktail or seafood forks made by Gorham in the Buttercup pattern. Buttercup was revived as pattern # 1899 in 1950; but these are the original 1899 version that was discontinued that same year. They are all stamped with the "Lion" for made in England, the "Anchor" for made in Birmingham, the fancy "G" for Gorham, and "STERLING". Each fork is 5 7/16" long, 7/8" wide at the widest part of the tines. They all have an engraved "D" in script on the backs of the handles.
These forks are in excellent condition. T is one small scratch on a middle tine, and one has slightly more curve to the handle; but, that's me being really picky about condition. Most of these seem never to have been used. The 8 forks weigh 3.7 ounces on my kitchen scale. I am calling these "Rare" because Replacements Ltd. and my other sources do not list the cocktail or seafood forks as available. Replacements Ltd. has stock of the 1950 version at $33.99 each. I am not an expert in Sterling Silver, but, have thoroughly enjoyed researching these forks. I love to mix patterns in place settings at my table and this ornate floral pattern, equally as beautiful front or back, is a stand out. They are the perfect reason to have a lobster party. I will be happy to answer any questions and/ or combine shipping. I have heard from a collector who seems very knowledgeable about Gorham Buttercup. She says that Replacements Ltd. is incorrect, and that Buttercup was not discontinued in 1899 as they state on their website. She has personal knowledge that it was made with the lion/anchor/sterling hallmarks until 1950 when Gorham continued the pattern but changed the markings on the back. I would welcome any other information to make my listing correct for you.
