8 VOLS LEATHER BOUND ELIZABETH GASKELL BRONTE BIO 1870 Presented is an 8 volume set of works by Mrs. Elizabeth Gaskell, the distinguished Victorian novelist and biographer. The set includes seven volumes of Mrs. Gaskell's novels and short stories as well as her well known biography of Charlotte Bronte. Each 3/4 leather bound volume has a marbled green, brown, and gold cover with green leather corners and binding. The bindings have four raised ridges along the spine, and they are labeled in gold with the title and the author. The top edges of the pages are also gilded. Each book has an illustration printed opposite the title page. The books were published by Smith, Elder & Co of London in 1870, 1888, and 1890 depending on the volume. These are wonderful old decorative leather bound books that will look great in your home or library. The set includes the following books: Wives and Daughters, An Every-Day Story Ruth and Other Tales Cranford and Other Tales Sylvia's Lovers Lizzie Leigh and Other Tales North and South Mary Barton and Other Tales The Life of Charlotte Bronte The books are in excellent overall condition considering their age. T is some wear to the leather on the corners and the bindings, but this is very minor. You can see the worst of the wear in the first photo. T are also a few small tears and a few loose pages, but the vast majority of the pages are tightly bound with no tears and no marks. All the bindings are perfectly readable. T are no missing pages, no breaks and no repairs. The books measure 5 1/8 inches by 7 inches. Because of the weight of this set, we will only ship this item to the United States and Canada.
