I just purchased this great anvil on eBay- it is everything the seller said it was-BUT I overlooked the fact it takes a proper 3/4" hardy and I need a 1" for my farrier business - my mistake! I did have a chance to forge with it, it has a solid base, nice work surface and a great ring. It is a pleasure to use and is a super anvil. This is the original seller's description, and it is accurate:NICE 80lb "WEST" Blacksmith Anvil...Here is a niceportable size anvil that would make a nice usable anvil or a wonderful display in a collection.. "WEST" was known for manufacturing much larger anvils; in the 300 to 800 pound range, so the smaller ones are rarely seen. The anvil's face has seen some use, there are a few dings and chisel cuts, but the face is still flat and very usable. The edges are still in very good condition with only a few small chips. This anvil has outstanding rebound with a sharp clear ring. Bears a "W" inside an up-side-down triangle which is "West's" trademark, the opposite side of the anvil is stamped YOST- MEADVILLE PA. What makes this anvil very rare and unique is the fact that is has the markings from two different manufacturers.
