This is a wonderfully unique kuba cloth! This beautiful cloth was created entirely by hand in Zaire, Africa. This wonderful textile is made from raffia, a palm fiber. The pile is thick and dense, the weave is tight; this is a well made cloth. Men of the Kuba tribe are responsible for weaving the cloth and women embroider designs on the fabric. The geometric designs used on the cloth is unique to each individual artisan. Made for ceremonial wear and to affirm the status of its owners, Kuba cloth has, at various times, served as currency in the Congo. Looks fantastic framed!! Size: 23.0"x 21.0". Color: dark brown, beige, black. Successful bidder to pay $7.95 for shipping and insurance. Being entirely handmade, no two kuba cloths are identical. Each is a unique work of art.
