A Continental gilt silver jeweled singing bird box of rectangular form having arabesque scrolls set with ruby cabochons, faceted emeralds and seed pearls and sapphires to depict song birds. The bird-form actuator opens the lid festooned with twin cornucopia to reveal the iridescent automaton. The hinged back swings upward to reveal a storage compartment for the key. Marked `800` with indistinct (German) hallmarks. Provenance: Estate of Mrs. W.A. `Betty` Criswell, Dallas, TX. 1.5` H x 4.0` W x 2.5` D, Circa - 1900.
