Beautiful, Oak Roll-Top desk from the early 1900's. I bought it from an estate sale around 1980. It is not in perfect condition, but that is the beauty of it. The right buyer could still appreciate it "as is" with tons of character OR could also re-furbish it/touch it up and it would probably be worth even more in an "improved" condition. The only flaws are a couple hairline cracks in the wood (which can only be seen by looking way under the inside drawers of the roll top section. I don't believe these cracks would affect the structure at all. Also, the right hand wood strip (used to lower the roll top) had been knocked in my garage and fell off. However, I have glued it on nicely with the correct wood glue. You can't tell it was cracked unless you look hard. The desk is extremely heavy and solid Oak. The S curved roll top is a bit stiff, but rolls just fine going up and down. It still has 2 gorgeous keys (one to lock the roll top and the other to lock the middle desk drawer). Desk can be separated into 2 parts (top & bottom). The roll top sits on the desk by 4 wooden pegs, very sturdy. One of the best features is the wood paneling on the sides and back! So the desk does not have to sit against a wall to look great. The two bottom desk drawers on either side will fit legal or letter sized files. T are numerous drawers and slats inside the roll top for small & large items. The writing surface is more than enough room for even a computer. And it also has 2 pull-out writing slats above both top drawers on either side. I would keep this gorgeous desk, but it has been sitting in my garage for years because I don't have the space in my house. Dimensions are: 54" wide x 49.5" tall x 33.5" deep The dimensions of clearance for your legs (w a chair would go) is: 25" top to bottom & 23" side to side LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY. I WILL GLADLY ACCOMODATE YOU IN MOVING IT FROM MY GARAGE & LOADING, BUT AM NOT OFFERING ANY SHIPPING.
