A very rare Louis XV silver mounted perfume set c1760

An exceptionally rare French Louis XV silver mounted perfume set in fitted case. the wine funnel stand bearing the small discharge mark for Paris, c.1756-62, the funnel and bowl measure with Augsburg pineapple mark for c.1760, also struck with the later swan control mark . The case quarter veneered in kingwood on all sides, the cover finely decorated with parquetry inlay bordered by boxwood stringing, contemporary with the original fittings inside, c.1760. Minor losses and old repairs to the veneer. The interior lined with patterned white and blue silk, the wells for the bottles and fittings lined with a faded pink satin edged with a yellow and metal twist border, the interior lid fitted with the original mirror. The case fitted with four silver mounted glass scent bottles, all original mid-18th century cut glass (pontil marks to each base), three of the stoppers variously dented, each retaining the original chain, also fitted with a silver bowl-measure, scent funnel and stand. Size: each bottle 4 & 1/2in high, the funnel 2 in long, the stand 2 & 1/2 in diameter, the bowl 1 & 3/4 in diameter the case 7&1/2 in wide x 7in deep x 5&1/2 in high Condition: as above, all the glass is perfect (NO chips or cracks), a rare item in good order. Note: sets like these rarely survive intact due to their delicate nature (and the excessesive destructions of the French revoultion). They would have been owned by a noblewoman (rather than a professional perfumier) who would blend the four basic scents kept in these large flasks to her own taste and then decant the mixture by means of the funnel into a smaller scent bottle which could be carried around with ease. ****Possibly this will be the only opportunity for a collector to acquire one of these rare complete sets****
