You are invited to bid on this beautiful figurine;" Madame Recamier",manufactured by the A. W. Kister Porcelain Manufactory of Scheibe-Alsbach, Thuringia, Germany in the 1800's .Very well detailed, the figurine is about 91/2" left to right (at the longest point), by 7"tall by 4 3/4" front to back. It is marked with the Kister mark of crossed swords over an "S" in blue on the bottom and in ink a number appearss that may be 9497. I can see no indication of chips, cracks, repairs, etc. fingers and toes, nose, etc. all intact. Detail and coloring are excellent. A yellowing typewritten note taped on the bottom inside reads"Jeanne Francoise Julie Adelaide Bernard-Madame Jacques Recamier. Born in Lyons, France Dec.4,1777. died in Paris May 1849.Leader of French Society in the Napoleonic Era. She was married at the age of 15 (when he was 45) to Jacques Recamier, who died inn 1830. Her beauty and intelligence attracted a wide group of Society. Her letters were published in 1859 by her niece.".
