What a great bracelet! This is a vintage sterling silver bracelet, circa 1955, from Taxco Mexico and made by an unknown silversmith who uses the initials "AA". None of the Mexican Silver reference books allude to who this smith is, but he is known to have produced items for Rancho Alegre. A popular website says that the initials are for Adan Alvarado, but I have not been able to otherwise verify this information.
But goodness, he does wonderful work! This heavy and nicely designed and executed bracelet is a weighty 80 grams of solid sterling silver. Composed of 5 rectangular links, each with an applied Aztec motif above a purposefully darkened ground. It is just delicious!
The bracelet closes with a well working slide in clasp. Very stunning on the wrist!
