It's time to unload some of my big rocks to make room for new points. I picked up a small collection recently that had several axe heads. Since the person I bought them from had no idea w they were from, I don't either. The material appears to be standard hard stone that is common in many Midwestern states. Starting with the axe on the left, it is just a hair over 4-1/2 inches in length, and 2-3/4 inches wide. The bit has a couple flea bites, and t is what appears to be the beginning of a second grove in front of the main one. The second axe from the left is about 3-3/4 inches long, and is the best piece of the lot. No dings on the bit edge, good use polish, and only a couple small plow scratches on the surface. The third from the left 3-1/2 inches long, and is also in great condition. One small ding on the bit end, and very minor chip along the groove. The celt is about 4-1/4 inches long, and does have some dings on the bit edge, but overall is a nice looking specimen.
