If you are looking for a WWII Army Air Force or GI Officer's Class B Cap this is it. you have a custom tailored, huge 7 3/8 size, The Columbia Brand, Class B AAF or GI Officer's visor cap with semi-pliable visor, oversized spread wing and 7 3/8 size tag. The cap is in about near mint condition. The maker's information is at the crown. The cap, known as the Columbia, was manufactured in New York. Above the information is Lady Columbia dressed for war. The Columbia is known, tongue in cheek, as the gem of a cap. The cap is truly sized as a 7 3/8. It fits by 7 ¼ hat size with room to spare. The crown appears to be a cotton wool poplin blend. T is no soiling, fading, staining or signs of moth damage to the crown. T is a pair of air hole grommets on both sides of the crown. The officer's wool band around the base of the cap has not discolored or faded. The base of the cap has a russet-brown, patent leather band secured by two eagle buttons. The visor retains a near mint russet finish with no crazing, and only a couple of lines or light, normal creases. The visor is semi-pliable. The visor's stitching is intact. The crown retains its jaunty, relaxed look. The oversized officer's eagle is breath taking and contrasts beautifully against the tan cotton wool and conforms to the front of the cap. I did not remove the eagle to check for markings; however, it most assuredly is of high quality. The sweatband is leather and perforated. The stitching is entirely intact. The cap can be worn or displayed comfortably. The sweatband is pliable, soft and supple. T is a full, partial celluloid sweat shield to the crown. You can see The Columbia's logo and information under the sweat shield. The cap just has a terrific look to it and can be worn or displayed. The Class B Summer Officers' Visor Caps are really tough to find.
Class B Tan Visor Caps would have been worn in the Pacific, Tropics, North Africa and Sicily, as well as in the States and the European Theatre during the summer. It would be perfect for wear by re-enactors, and is absolutely ideal for your display, museums, and for educational and theatrical presentations.
