The listing represents a WWII AAF Officer's fur felt crusher visor service cap with Army Air Corps Chinstrap and oversized eagle. It is ostensibly the finest I have ever listed. It is in near mint condition bordering on mint condition. The cap is a size 7 1/4, features a dark brown fur felt crown and sharp, oversized eagle. The sweatband is marked EZ Cushion. The service visor cap is striking in appearance and has held its shape. T is no grommet and the cap has a jaunty, crusher look. T are no fading, stains, soiling or wear to the fur felt crown. Incredible t is no moth spots that I can discern. T are two air hole grommets on either side of the cap, each retaining its brown paint. The base of the crown has a woven wool band. T is a russet-brown, leather band secured by two early eagle buttons. To the rear is a matching russet leather AAC chinstrap that is adjustable. Only the Air Corps or Army Air Forces had the chinstrap affixed to the visor caps. The bill or visor is also deep, russet brown leather and has a leather underside. The visor's stitching is intact. The visor is semi-flexible. T is a beautiful, custom officer's Great Seal Eagle Cap Badge affixed to the front. It is the original eagle, the gold finish is brilliant and it is large. I did not attempt to remove it to see if it is marked. It is substantial and of high quality. The oversized eagle is worth the opening bid price.
The sweatband is pliable, supple and perforated. The sweatband's stitching is entirely intact. T is a full size, amber sweat shield protecting the yellow lining. T is a newspaper ad of an attractively sketched woman affixed to the crown. I have no idea why it is t! The lining is yellow satin or rayon for the Air Corps. The cap comfortably fits my 7 ¼ cap size with some room to spare. I can not guarantee it will fit you (though it is a terrific size and should fit a lot of you out t so please bid on this as an artifact first.
