- American Basketball Association PLAYER Larry Jones - - (2) ROOKIE Year Philadelphia 76ers PAYROLL Checks - - (4 Time ABA All-Star / 3 Time ALL-ABA First Team) - PAIR of Philadelphia 76ers PAYROLL Checks for ABA All-Star PLAYER Larry Jones during his ROOKIE NBA season (1964 – 65) . BOTH checks are dated March (15th and 22nd) 1965 and are SIGNED by Larry Jones on the backside or verso of each. The TWO checks are also SIGNED on the front, along the bottom, by Isaac “Ike” Richman – who was the original owner of the Philadelphia 76ers . LARRY JONES was drafted by the Sixers in the THIRD round (20th overall pick) of the 1964 NBA draft and played only ONE season with the team before jumping to the American Basketball Association (ABA) where he would play for FOUR different teams – Denver Rockets (1967 – 1970), The Floridians (1970 – 72), Utah Stars (1972), and the Dallas Chaparrals (1972 – 73). Larry Jones was named to FOUR ABA All-Star teams (3 Time ALL-ABA First Team) and was the FIRST President of the ABA Player's Association . When he retired from professional basketball in 1974, Jones had tallied over 10,000 career points while playing in both leagues.
