Very good example of a tiwi club. This piece, measuring 39 centimeters long and almost 4 centimeters at the widest point, is a colorful artifact with excellent patina from tribal use. Collected by a RAF officer in 1943, the club was purchased from a well-known dealer of Australian art. The natural pigments are still bright and attractive, with minor wear and some water damage. The handle, as evident in the pics, is tactile and smooth from years of use. We estimate this piece to be from between WWI and WWII. This piece is a fine example of this type and age of tiwi club with impeccable provenance. Will display beautifully.
