ABP AMERICAN BRILLIANT CUT GLASS CREAMER STRAWBERRY-DIAMOND-FAN DESCRIPTION : This American Brilliant Period creamer is a study in elegance and is fabulously executed! It has strawberry-diamond motif emerging from the bottom and culminates in highly reflective fans. The bottom has a 24-rayed star. The fluted spout is zippered and has two 3-ring lines. The handle is flat on the top (for easy gripping) plus it has a series of connected punties (or rounds) taken out of the handle as well. Very tactile - it feels good to pick up and hold. The proportions are outstanding; a handsome addition to anyone's collection. ITEM NAME/NUMBER: Strawberry-diamond-fan creamer. Nearly every cutting house made this very popular design (or something almost like it). It could be Hoare, Hawkes, Dorflinger, Clark, Libbey... take your pick. Dorflinger has a near match, as does Clark (and Hoare and Hawkes...) It is GORGEOUS. In looking through my ABP books, I had hoped to find a total match, but so far I have come up with near misses, the most notable being Clark. The key is in the cutting of the spout (i.e., the silhouette of the curving edge between handle and spout) and the presence of double 3-ringed lines. Several houses have similar creamers, but they're not quite right. Several manufacturers made creamers with ONE 3-ringed line but not 2. Though the attribution is uncertain, one thing IS certain, and that this is one fabulous piece of cut glass. SIZE : 5 1/2" tall; 5" wide (including handle). BLANK : The glass blank is wonderfully clear and highly reflective. SIGNING : This piece is unsigned. CONDITION: EXCELLENT. T are a few fleabites to the exterior (which are totally unnoticeable) and almost no surface wear. See photos. The place w the handle joins the top of the creamer has some stretch marks in the glass - this is original to the piece and doesn't indicate a weakness or cracking, I merely mention it because they are t It's the spot w the glass blower used his utensil to affix the molten handle to the top. BLACKLIGHT : Fluoresces yellow-green under blacklight. He publicly stated that improving it was #1 on his list of priorities. However, that hasn't happened yet. Until the Chicago Post Office can deliver mail with any semblance of efficacy, I do not feel comfortable using it and will only send packages via UPS. This is problematic for many people and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may cause -- but it's better to spend a little more money and know the package will arrive rather than ship it USPS and never have it be delivered. THIS IS EXPERIENCE TALKING. Even with delivery confirmation, insurance, signature required, certified mail, whatever "service" the USPS offers -- as long as you're going through Chicago, t is NO GUARANTEE it will be delivered. For example, in the last month alone, two packages that were sent to me have gone "missing." One (that had insurance AND delivery confirmation) purportedly was delivered last week -- it was not. It is in YOUR best interests if the Chicago Post Office is kept out of the loop. NOTE : I believe in taking good, clear, detailed photos so that you can accurately judge what the item is.
