ABRAHAM LINCOLN 1st Nomination President 1860 Newspaper is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: THE NEW YORK HERALD , May 19, 1860. * Abraham Lincoln nomination for President * Pre civil war - 1st nomination * Historic item Among the page 3 headlines are the nominations of Abraham Lincoln for President, and Hanibal Hamlin for Vice President. The "Special Chicago Dispatch" begins, reading in part: * "The multitude in and about the wigwam, this morning, is immense; at least one thousand ladies are present, and the greatest enthusiasm prevails. After reading several letters, the Convention proceeded to ballot for President....At the close of the third ballot, Mr. Carter, of Ohio, changed four votes from Chase to Lincoln, thus nominating---For President, Abram Lincoln, Of Illinois. The scene which followed this demonstration was one of the wildest excitement ever witnessed. All business ceased for some time....After the Lincoln excitement the proceedings of the Convention were flat..." and more. T is a second, more detailed report headed "Proceedings Of The Convention which describes the scene during the nominating process, and also includes the results of the three ballots. Following this report are textual "Sketches Of The Candidates", and another report: "The Effect of the Nomination".
