ABRAHAM LINCOLN Assassination Funeral 1865 Newspaper * is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: BUFFALO MORNING EXPRESS , New York, April 17, 1865 * Abraham Lincoln assassination & funeral * Broadside-like presentation on pgs. 2 & 3 The entire front page is taken up with the latest news concerning the assassination, funeral & related items surrounding Abraham Lincoln. Among the many front page one column heads are: "Autopsy Of The President's Case" "The Assassins Not Yet Arrested" "Edwin Booth Overwhelmed by Horror at his Brother's Crime" "Junius Brutus Booth Driven Out of Cincinnati" "The Assassin of President Lincoln" "Andrew Johnson Sworn Into Office" "The Assassins Making For Canada" "John Wilkes Booth the Murderer of The President" "Last Moments Of The President" "The Murder Planned To Take Place on the 4th of March" "The Attempted Assassin of Mr. Seward Named John Surritt" "Mr. Johnson Retains President Lincoln's Cabinet". Also included on the ftpg. is the last writing by Lincoln (see photos). Plus the back page has some great reporting as well, with one column heads including: "The Great National Calamity!" "President Lincoln's Assassination!" "The City In Mourning" "Frederick Seward Still Unconscious" "The Administration of The Oath to President Johnson" "Gen. Lee's Farewell Address" "Arrangements for the Funeral of President Lincoln" "The Funeral to Take Place Wednesday" and more (see photos). But by far this most intriguing aspect of the issue is the broadside-like presentation of pages 2 & 3, as shown in the photos below. T is no text on either page save for what is found within these two notices. An uncommonly large amount of "white space" on these two pages! Fortunately this issue is in very nice condition, having been never bound nor trimmed. T are several folds and a few have very small areas of fold separation, but generally this newspaper is in extremely nice condition with almost no wear. Because of the uncommon thickness of the very wide black mourning rules on the inside pages t is some expected "bleed through" of the ink onto pages 1 & 4. The issue measures about 27 by 20 1/4 inches. A very rare opportunity for a terrific and unusual newspaper on the Lincoln assassination and funeral.
