"Honest Abe" as he was called, was born (1809-1865) in a Kentucky log cabin and had very little formal education.A man of great moral character, a remarkable communicator, and a celebrated leader during a time that almost destroyed the nation, Lincoln was a self-made man and a self-taught lawyer. As a young man, Lincoln moved to Illinois and was admitted to the Bar in 1836. He gained early recognition as a jury lawyer, an elected representative, and U.S. Senator. In 1860 Lincoln was elected 16th President of the United States and in this role, would abolish slavery. This compelling sculpture is reproduced by Christopher Pardell in bonded bronze with a granite base etched with Lincoln?s name.
