The whiskey in this amber colored bottle was distilled in 1912; 100 years ago. It was bottled in 1925 during prohibition. It was found in the original wooden shipping box in a basement in New England , where it had been stored and forgotten since Prohibition. The seal has never been broken, and approximately 90 percent of the original whiskey remains. Ten percent has been given up to the angel’s breath over the past 85 to 100 years. What a find!Although the whiskey was distilled by the Old Crow Distillery in Frankfort , Kentucky , it was farmed out and bottled by The Old ‘76 Distillery Company in Newport , Kentucky . All sorts of seemingly unusual things occurred during Prohibition. There is so much that can be said about this bottling. However the photos tell the story.The label on the back of this bottle indicates that it contains one half pint of 100 proof whiskey. The bottle clearly contains one pint. This kind of error was fairly common back when Prohibition was at its height.The back label states this is a product of W. A. Gaines & Co., Distillery No. 106, District of Kentucky.
