ACANTHUS CARVED NEW YORK EMPIRE STYLE SOLID CUBAN MAHOGANY BEDROOM SET We are delighted to offer you this amazing solid Cuban Mahogany heavily carved bedroom set fresh to the market from a fine Hampden , Massachusetts Estate. This extremely high quality set starts with an outrageously heavily carved 4 poster full sized bed. This bed is equipped with 6 foot tall thick robust posts, a finely carved and detailed head & footboard and 9" wide rails secured by dowels and threaded bed bolts. This is an incredible bed that is rock solid when assembled and ready to accomondate standard full sized bedding, and like the other pieces in this set, made entirely out of thick solid Cuban, the finest in the world mahogany in the world. The headboard is 56½" tall from floor to the top of the headboard's rail. The footboard is 36" tall and 61" wide. The tall chest is detaled by matching carved columns along with the matching carved mirror posts. This carving is simply the finest that American furniture making ever offered. The tall chest has an oval cheval style mounted mirror supported by these fantastic posts. Both dressers are bow fronted with the tall chest being a 2 over 4 drawer chest that stands at an impressive 6 feet tall at the mirror's top, 68" high at the mirror's posts, 46" high from floor to chest's top, 40" wide and 21" deep. The 2 over 2 bow fronted dresser is no less impressive with the same carved mirror posts and columns mounted with a 43" wide cheval type oval mirror. It stands 71" high at the mirror, 65" high at the mirror's posts, 35" high from floor to dresser top, 50" wide and 24" deep. All the drawers on the chests are made from 1" thick solid mahogany and work perfectly. Every scrap of wood in this set is solid mahogany. The hardware of this set is all original very heavy brass pulls with Rosette designs on their face plates. This is simply the finest set money can buy! The set is absolutely clean and made more than 100 years ago by the finest wood carvers and cabinet makers in America . FURNITURE WOODS 101 We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, bird's eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesn't state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos.
