A friend of mine recently mentioned he would like to sell his home of twenty two years . I am familiar with the effort he has put into before , whilst it was being built ,and since then , in terms of the equisite interior and gardens that ramble over many acres (A second home also on the block brings in income that is enough after tax to run both properties for free .

He built this home without thinking about a budget

He tells me he sacked three architects in the process of building as they could not reach the quality he desired .

Money was no object . Eventually he personally took on the project and finished it .

To say it is extraordinary is an huge understatement .

I have never seen anything so gorgeous , such high quality, with a fairylights view of the city .

The City of Adelaide has a rare inversion factor that makes the lights twinkle at night !!!!!!!!!

I speak with some authority having Design and Teaching qualifications whilst occupying a position at the University of South Australia for some twenty years before a recent retirement .

I have been to Manhattan at night and this view is right up there. ….some may even say more fascinating as the inversion factor creates a stunning effect .

Adelaide South Australia has been noted by many lifestyle and leisure publications as one of the last places to have a sophisiticated but unhurried or frantic lifestyle free from nutters ,crooks, scammers,terrorists, ex wives or chain saw freaks .

We locals find it difficult to believe that Osama Bin Liner and or Elvis Pelvis have not been spotted here as they could live in total privacy and security here in a population that is so laid back they are horizontal .

I have actually , amongst my own friends some that , could not migrate quick enough once they found out about this little gem of a city .

One of our politicians is so spoilt by Adelaide that recently he announced he would head for northern Italy to live in the Alps for a while to slum it by way of a unique holiday .

We Adelaideans all pitched in a few dollars in order to see him enjoy himself

Anyway ; back to ths stunning house .

My friend has offered to sell it to me at market price .

Very fair I think .

I drove home and thought to myself that I would sacrifice my acorn collection to own such a beautiful home . All my life i have been a bit of a collector of all kinds of unique things

I am a single guy now sixty years of age.

I have never had kids .never been married .Non drinker these days ; always non-smoker .

Up for auction is a one – owner acorn, with little use .

I Have two actually , and have once been offered a couple more to hold .

I rejected that persons’generousity outright as I was happy with what I had . Collections can easily get too big if one is not selective .

I digress , .............................................................................. but be assured my acorn is still capable of doing much damage .

Do not stand under an acorn tree .

If I reach his asking price by selling off at least one of my collection I can approach him at a serious level and do the deal .

I would really hate some other discerning person to jump the que ( a line for my adoring U.S.A.readers ) and beat me to this house purchase .

I will pay for the surgery ( to use the vernacular ) and take it out of the bag I was once given to keep my collection in , and have it delivered ; packed appropriately . If a very small package eventually arrives at your door do not think it to be a smoking gun . It will just be the dry ice i will use for packaging .

I will even drop ship or gift wrap in case you want to give someone a surprise .

I figure that as years go buy I shan’t be using it much and might as well spend my twilight years in comfort , if you know what I mean ………….eventually we all h...
