HINDENBURG DURALUMIN METAL AND RED FABRIC This is an Authentic Aviation Artifact Limited Edition Release. These items are very rare and very scarce. It comes from the framework and fabric of the Hindenburg. The large brass plaque tells the story: The Hindenburg (LZ-129) On May 6, 1937 at 7:35 pm , Commander Max Pruss was at the helm when thirteen passengers, twenty-two crewmen, and one civilian lost their lives in the space of 37 seconds. This strong and light-weight piece of framework, known as Duralumin was recovered from the crash site by Mr. George L. Mead. a Supervisor for Standard Oil Company, A journalist, Harry Kroh was also at the Lakehurst NAS crash-site on that fateful evening. This example is the rarest surviving piece of Hindenburg fabric, salvaged from the EMBLEM border, located on the lower fin. No other examples are known to exist outside of museums. Duralumin was first produced in Duren, Germany after a process developed by Dr. A. Wilm. Duralumin is one of the "hard aluminums". Duralumin is 94% aluminum with a small amount of copper and magnesium. These may or may not be the actual pieces you are bidding on, however they will be of equal size.
