ADDENDA TO DESCRIPTIONS OF BURGESS SHALE FOSSILS(With 23 Plates)by Charles D. Walcott June 29, 1931 Description :- Here we have Smithsonian Miscellaneous Collection, volume 81 number 3, Publication 3117 (published by The Smithsonian Institution). - This is a highly-sought out-of-print publication on the unique fossils of the Burgess Shale in British Columbia, Canada. - It is famous for the exceptional preservation of the soft parts of its fossils. At 505 million years (Middle Cambrian) old, it is one of the earliest fossil beds containing soft-part imprints. - The Burgess Shale Formation was discovered on August 30, 1909 by paleontologist Charles D. Walcott, the author of this publication.- This copy is a discard copy from the New Mexico Tech library. It is stamped "Library June 13 1956 N.M. (the rest of stamp is not visible)."- There is black pen writing on the upper left of the front cover reading "SI 1.7 : 85/3."- There is a Dewey Decimal sticker in the lower left of the front cover that has been blacked-out.- The condition is used with normal wear from library use. There are some small tears on cover with wear on the edges and the spine of the binding.- There pages are darkened some as with any publication of this age.
